Suggestion: Don't change Spirit Rift!
The upcoming Spirit Rift change (damage will be dealt over time, rather than all at once after a few seconds) will be epic and unholy fail. If you wish to buff Channeling Rits, DON'T kill solo-spike. This should be obvious. And why add cracked armor to it when the existing synergy with Weaken Armor is overwhelming? Same AoE, same cooldown, you get a window of opportunity to cast it before the damage is dealt... I've been using this quite a bit and it works just fine, especially since the armor penetration from DwG is applied AFTER the penalty from cracked armor.
I agree with pretty much all other changes, but this one just seems dumb to me.

Think of it this way: You can stop bringing Weaken Armor now and start bringing something else that will help you spit out damage.

I'm not sure. I could only find that the changes were meant to influence PvE, not that they were actually PvE-only. If it is, the change would be more acceptable, but I'll still be sad to see it go. It's a fun skill to use, and even in PvE, solo-spiking is good against groups with strong healers.

Strong healers? Just team up with a Mesmer, I hear they're good at disabling.
I think I know an underlying reason of why they're changing it this way, at least in regards to the adding of Cracked Armor on the last second though. I don't think I can say now, but I'll tell you if they don't explain it in the Dev Update on Thursday.

Very exciting, but the point is to prevent it from happening, not to let it happen and then discuss whether or not it's horrible, and then wait half a year before the change gets reverted and I get to use my spell again :P

I don't see how it's that horrible. You say it has perfect synergy with another skill in a different attribute...well, now you don't have to use that skill. Hurray for you!

I also don't get the benefits of cracked armor until my second Rift. Hurray for whatever I'm trying to kill. Besides, that was just a detail. The main thing is that it will be changed from damage after time to damage over time, which kills the solo-spike.

They're on the Wiki. There's a topic in General Discussion with a link to it.
EDIT: And if you're a Rit fan, you'll love what they're doing to DwG.

With the upcoming change people have at least a chance of surviving a Spirit Rift in HM cast by a lvl 28 Ritualist Boss.

Do that. Please do. Just leave the game and this forum. You'll be doing everyone a favor, yourself including.

I came here expecting to find people protesting about the possibility of the AoE scatter effect triggering due to the pulsating nature of the new SR, but I guess that's not an issue.
Carry on.

Or you know... you could just move when you see the long drawn out easily avoidable animation.

Yes, with 5 other party members, a bunch of minions, a pet, a few summons on the bridge at Zen Daijun, a laggy connection and with the oppressive skill animations Anet implemented for even the simplest of skills. The animation is easily lost, especially to new players. There are a lot of people needing help on that particular mission in my alliance.

I would think that because H/H will never move out of aoe (no matter what Anet claims, they do not), that this skill change would practically wipe your H/H team in HM before you can flag them out of it quick enough. Given how they love to huddle together, I would have thought that some one might have thought of this sooner? Or am I missing something here?
